The UN did not come to Je Yang camp, the largest IDP camp in Kachin, during the first year. When they finally came, they took a bunch of photos and left food supplies for five days, promising to return soon with more supplies. They didn’t come back for months. The camps in and around Myitkyina get regular aid from the UN and other INGOs. Still compared to the more remote camps in the KO areas, Je Yang residents get relatively stable aid through a network of mostly local NGOs and support from the Kachin Diaspora, thanks to the proximity with Laiza city.
