Tang Hpre village, where the photo was taken is located at the confluence of the Mali Hka and N’mai Hka rivers. The residents of the village were forcibly relocated due to the construction of the Myitsone dam by China Power Investment Corporation (CPI). The Chinese project was halted in 2012, because of nationwide public protests. However, after the military coup in 2021 there are fears among the public that the project might relaunched by the Military Council Government.
