The posts of a family home in Nam Sang Yang Village. Now the wilderness has taken back the village. This scene is common in much of the Kachin State, especially when the Burmese army loses a battle, they take revenge against unarmed civilians. Since 2011, no one was able to return to this village. Many of the landowners have already sold the land very cheaply as they lost hope of returning and are desperate for cash to take care of their families stuck in the IDP camps. Villagers say they hope to build again, but that it will never be the village it once was.
